Winter weather is a notorious culprit for causing damage around the home and in doing so, racking up huge bills. But it doesn’t have to be this way, James explains; advisers can help clients to insulate themselves against large costs such a burst pipe – the repair of which, on average, could set them back a whopping £5,569! – by making sure that they have the correct home insurance in place for their needs.
This is acutely important this year, James emphasises, given the financial pressures many face due to Covid-19.
James also shares some of his top tips in the article, including the importance for advisers to stress the importance of general home maintenance activities to their clients – not only to protect homeowners from hefty one-off costs but also to ensure that they do not invalidate their existing home insurance, rendering themselves liable to a bigger financial hit down the line.
